You pay a fixed monthly fee, and we manage your taxes throughout the year. We collect documents through your personal client portal, track income and expenses, calculate quarterly estimated tax payments, monitor deadlines, and file your tax returns. Having your taxes prepared just once a year doesn’t provide the same level of oversight. Errors and missed deadlines often go unnoticed until tax season.
For individuals: Starter — $79, Insider — $179, and Insider Pro — $269 per month. For businesses: Start — from $350, Plus — from $550, and Pro — from $850 per month. The Local Tax & Compliance Shield add-on costs $29 or $49 per month. Government filing fees and taxes are billed separately.
Starter is ideal if you earn a salary and have 1–2 sources of income. Insider is designed for freelancers and individuals with investment or rental income. It includes monthly bookkeeping, quarterly estimated tax calculations, and a quarterly consultation with an expert. Insider Pro is tailored to more complex financial situations involving investments, multiple properties, or income from several states.
Your plan is based on the size of your business, not its legal structure. Start is suitable for businesses with 1–2 people and no complex payroll requirements. Plus is designed for companies with 3–10 employees and regular payroll. Pro is intended for businesses with 10+ employees and significant revenue. All plans include monthly bookkeeping, the annual business tax return, and the owner's personal tax return.
Yes, we work with clients in every US state. State tax filings are tailored to your individual circumstances. If you have lived or earned income in multiple states, multi-state tax return preparation is included in the Insider Pro plan.
Your taxes will be handled by Lina Kora, a financial and tax consultant registered with CTEC and holding a PTIN and EFIN. CTEC registration means that a tax preparer is registered in California through the California Tax Education Council. A PTIN is required for professionals who prepare federal tax returns for compensation. An EFIN identifies an organization authorized by the IRS to electronically file tax returns. According to the IRS, CPAs, Enrolled Agents, and tax attorneys have unlimited representation rights before the IRS, including in audits, collections, and appeals.
Bookkeeping is the ongoing process of recording and tracking all business income and expenses. According to the IRS, proper recordkeeping helps you monitor income, track deductible expenses, prepare tax returns, and support the figures reported on them. The IRS requires employment tax records to be kept for at least 4 years.
According to IRS rules, quarterly estimated tax payments (Form 1040-ES) are generally required if you expect to owe at least $1,000 in federal taxes for the year and your taxes are not sufficiently withheld from your wages. With the Insider plan, we calculate your payments and remind you of upcoming deadlines. With Insider Pro, we also submit the payments on your behalf.
Employers must withhold federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare taxes from employees' wages, pay their share of these taxes, and report them to the IRS. According to the IRS, payroll tax reporting includes quarterly Form 941, annual Form 940, and W-2 forms, which must be provided to employees and submitted to the Social Security Administration by January 31.
Many cities require businesses to register separately and renew their local business tax registration annually. For example, businesses in Los Angeles need a Business Tax Registration Certificate. In California, a Statement of Information must be filed with the Secretary of State after a company is registered and then periodically according to the filing schedule. Failure to file may result in penalties from the Franchise Tax Board. Our Local Tax & Compliance Shield add-on helps take care of these requirements.
If you've just registered an S-Corp or LLC, we recommend starting with the Start plan and the Local Tax & Compliance Shield from your first month. A one-time initial setup fee also applies and covers obtaining an EIN, selecting your tax classification, and setting up payroll registration.
After 3 months of active club membership, you'll receive free access to The Art of Business Expenses course. The regular price of the course is $490.
